General Workshop Review
Another year, another successful UNENE Annual R&D Workshop! Thank you to everyone who joined us from December 9 to 11, 2024, for three packed days of discussions and presentations.
This year’s workshop featured keynote addresses from special guests including Jan van der Lee of I2EN; panel presentations on a variety of topics such as the future of energy demand and how to foster collaboration and share critical infrastructure; and important research updates from project leaders.
Students also had the chance to showcase their work in three participation categories of the Student Symposium: long technical presentations, 7-minute thesis presentations, and posters. Congratulations to the winners of each competition, Stephen Marshall, Richard Meng, Razieh Mohammadrezaei Larki, Kelvin Olivares, and Liyang Zheng!
We are so grateful for the support of our sponsors who enabled us to keep this Workshop free and accessible to all this year. Platinum level sponsors Bruce Power, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, and Ontario Power Generation, and Silver level sponsor Atomic Energy of Canada Limited — your generous contributions were the key to the success of this event.
It is always a pleasure to bring together industry, academia, and government to share ideas, discuss future directions, and foster collaborations. We hope this year’s Workshop was a fruitful and exciting experience for all, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year!
Student Symposium Review
The Student Symposium is truly a special part of our Annual R&D Workshop and we at UNENE were so thrilled to see such an excellent showcase of diverse research this year.
This Symposium would not have been possible without the generous support of our Platinum Level Sponsors whose funding went toward the Monday evening reception and poster session: Bruce Power, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, and Ontario Power Generation.
We extend our thanks to all the students who took part, to all poster and presentation reviewers for enabling a successful competition, and a warm congratulations to the winners this year!
