Nov. 30 deadline for Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) grants to support research, to fill knowledge gaps which could have emerged from the pandemic or as a response to new economic opportunities.

NOV. 24, 2021 – The deadline is approaching quickly (Nov. 30) for NSERC grants to support research addressing knowledge gaps and challenges of agencies and federal departments. The research projects will be collaborations between Canadian academic researchers and the stakeholders of the department.

NSERC will provide $100,000 to $500,000 in funding per year for two years. Funding decisions will be made before March 31, 2022.

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has also created a related grant opportunity asking for university researchers to aid in the regulatory research and development of small modular reactors (SMRs). Some laboratories and facilities were closed during the pandemic, so having access to university researchers would help the CNSC’s regulatory decisions on SMR development and further advance the clean-energy technology.
