Stories of innovation in CANDU and beyond featured in COG’s latest issue of COGnizant
CANDU Owners Group released its latest issue of COGnizant Magazine featuring innovation and achievement across its membership and the nuclear industry.
JUNE 17, 2021 – From laboratories to nuclear plants, and even across UNENE institutions, the latest issue of COGnizant highlights innovation achieved through the CANDU Owners Group (COG), its members, partners and suppliers, working together to strengthen CANDU performance. The issue also highlights the Canadian nuclear sector’s continued development of small modular reactors as one further way to leverage nuclear’s low carbon power for clean energy systems.
CANDU Owners Group (COG) released its Spring/Summer edition of COGnizant Magazine, June 10. UNENE was among science and technology partners profiles, along with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Kinectrics (also a UNENE partner) and Stern Laboratories (see page 34).
As well, UNENE is referenced in stories about COG’s reduced outages program, its collaboration with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Canada-Romania virtual trade mission, held earlier this year.
This issue of COGnizant focuses on stories of CANDU industry innovation advanced through COG research and joint projects as well as individual achievements of COG members, participants and partners.
Other featured stories include:
- An overview, history and achievements of COG’s fuel channel program;
- A breakdown of emerging COG and industry work in CANDU decommissioning; and
- A closer look at innovations in the areas of fueling machine ram seals, steam generator analysis and hydrogen effusion probes, among others.
COG is a not-for-profit corporation funded by its members, including Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power, New Brunswick Power and CNL, in Canada, and CANDU utilities across six other countries, worldwide. COG facilitates about $70 million of R&D and joint projects annually including work with UNENE network universities and other institutions.
